Centern Tree Planting Project at Pacific Spirit Park UBC
“Metro Vancouver Regional Parks appreciates the donated time and materials needed for the planting of 55 western redcedar trees in Pacific Spirit Regional Park. The trees were planted to help restore a decommissioned trail area in the vicinity of Musqueam Creek, north of SW Marine Dr. Overall the trees are doing very well the site and it is great to see them surviving and thriving in this cool, wet area of the park. We are losing older, well established western red cedar to drought in other areas of the park (adjacent residential neighbourhoods and new developments), so installing the 55 new trees in a suitable habitat will help with the long term diversity and resilience of the parks forest ecosystems.” – Robyn Worcester R.P.Bio., Natural Resource Management Specialist, Vancouver Parks and Environment, West Area
